QEMU
Since I have nerded out a lot with QEMU and UTM in my weeknotes. I have decided to create a quick project page and see what's what for getting operating systems up and running. Currently, everything in the guide so far works on the MacBook Air M1 (16GB ram version).
What you need to remember is that, if you are going to be installing a virtual machine (VM), you will need to be using arm64 version. So far, the following OS works...
Virtual Machine
- Kali
- Debian
- FreeBSD - (CPU temperature crept up to the 80c)
Emulation
- Mac OS 9 (emulation)
- Solaris
Note: Running older OS will bring challenges such as using a web browser. There are a couple of ways round this and this section will be updated soon.
